It’s So True…

Nothing happens next. This is it.

Behavioral psychology will tell you that you can’t just stop a behavior; you have to also find a replacement behavior. For the New Year, make list of the things you want to stop doing, then write down a list of things you will do instead.
Even better, make sure your replacement actions relate closely to what you want to stop doing. For example, if you want to stop biting your nails, spend a few minutes a day manicuring them instead.
Medical News Today has an article on a new form of psychotherapy that researchers have shown to be highly effective with multiple forms of eating problems. The new therapy is called CBT-E (short for enhanced cognitive-behavioral therapy). Sounds good, right?
The problem is that nowhere in the article does it discuss exactly why it is “enhanced”. They just talk about how it is much better. Reminds me of the detergent commercials where they say their product is “new and improved”, but don’t really state how (usually because it isn’t). If someone out there knows, enlighten me.
Personally, I think it was effective because each participant got 20 sessions of therapy, which is a far cry from what most people get.
A few weeks ago, Hill Counseling moved into it’s new office. The website has been updated with the address and directions. Pictures will be added later. For now, take a look at these pics of the new office/waiting room/conference room! Please leave feedback if you like.
